attorney Ian Hartsfield

Ian Hartsfield is a California attorney whose practice is rooted in advocacy, service, and client-centered representation. A native of the Chicagoland area, he spent more than a decade helping operate a nonprofit organization that provided shelter and support for individuals experiencing homelessness—work that continues to shape his perspective as a lawyer.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Film from Columbia College Chicago and later obtained his law degree from Chapman Law School, where he was a founding member and Vice President of the Black Law Students Association.

Before entering his current practice, Mr. Hartsfield worked in foreclosure defense, representing homeowners facing financial hardship. He helped clients remain in their homes by negotiating payment plans with lenders and assisted individuals in bankruptcy matters, including cases where mortgages were fully stripped from the record.

Mr. Hartsfield is known for combining legal strategy with a genuine ability to listen and understand each client’s story. His attention to detail and ability to uncover overlooked value in cases often leads to results that exceed initial insurance company offers.

Outside of his legal work at Harpy Law, Mr. Hartsfield enjoys tutoring individuals preparing for the California bar exam.
